life happens.

this has been jeremy's phrase for the last few days. life happens, what do you do?! i couldn’t be more grateful for this attitude. he has definitely taught me by example the last few days. we were headed on vacation to aspen, colorado as a family and as we arrived, he had a mishap while unloading the motorcycles which ended with a totally ruptured patella tendon. needing surgery. day 1. he's been looking forwards to this vacation for months. i have been looking forward to it. the kids have. we all were so ready to be in the mountains, as a family. but as he sat on the driveway, saying he was headed for surgery, i’m emotional, stressed, anxiety through the roof- he looked at me and said- its ok, life happens. it’s all in god’s hands.

as i’ve sat with that the last few days as we have figured out insurance, surgeons, recovery, travel plans, etc. today, day after surgery, i went on a 20 min walk along the river to the hospital to pick up a new prescription and it hit me. i stood there, breathing in the mountain air, listening to the river roar and tumble and i knew in that moment that life happens. we are so small in the grand scheme and everything is in god’s hands. i can fight all i want against the rapids, the flow of the river, but its fruitless. gods in control and if i can just breath, pray, give it to god- thats where i find peace, find my grace space.

god is overall. life does happen and when we can step back, look at it through god’s lens- we can see what we can learn, how we can grow, through it. but day 1, we may think its this lesson. on day 2, we may think its another lesson. on day 15 it may seem to be an entirely different lesson. god is everywhere, he is all around us, he is always there to help us learn, grow, be comforted and to find peace in any situation. so as life happens, may we step back and breathe. breathe deep, the kind of deep breath that goes deep down in the soul, that centers us, that brings us into his love and his grace space.

to every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. ecclesiastes 3:1
